A Prayer of Saint Paisios the Athonite

This prayer of Saint Paisios the Athonite was given to a convent which had asked the Elder for a prayer rule that could be used by the nuns in their evening vigils. This directive was given to the nuns during the final years of his life.

My God, forsake not Your servants who live far away from the Church. May Your love influence them and bring them all near You.

Remember Lord Your servants who are suffering from cancer.

Remember Lord Your servants who suffer either from small or serious ailments.

Remember Lord Your servants who suffer from infirmities of the body.

Remember Lord Your servants who suffer from infirmities of the soul.

Remember Lord our leaders (presidents, prime ministers, etc.) and inspire them to govern in a Christian manner.

Remember Lord the children who come from troubled families.

Remember Lord the troubled families and those who have been divorced.

Remember Lord all the orphans of the world, all those who are suffering pain and injustices, and those who are widowed.

Remember Lord all those in jail, all anarchists, all drug abusers, all murderers, all abusers of people, and all thieves. Enlighten these people and help them to be corrected.

Remember Lord all those who have been forced to emigrate.

Remember Lord all those who travel on the seas, on land, in the air, and protect them.

Remember Lord our Church, the fathers (clergy) of the Church and the faithful.

Remember Lord all the monastic communities, male and female, the elders and eldresses and all the brotherhoods of the Hagiorite Fathers.

Remember Lord Your servants who find themselves in the midst of war.

Remember Lord Your servants who are being pursued in the mountains and on the plains.

Remember Lord Your servants who are being hunted like birds.

Remember Lord Your servants who abandoned their homes and their jobs and are afflicted.

Remember Lord the poor, the homeless and the exiled.

Remember Lord all the nations, keep them in Your embrace and cover them with Your holy protection. Keep them safe from every evil and war. Keep our beloved Greece in Your embrace day and night, guard her from every evil and war.

Remember Lord those who have been afflicted, abandoned, suffered injustice and faced family trials, and grant them Your rich mercy.

Remember Lord Your servants who suffer from psychological and physical problems of all kinds.

Remember Lord those that have requested that we pray for them.

Remember also Lord all the reposed throughout the ages and grant them rest.
